Confession: I haven’t worked out in over two months. I blame bad knees and a slow-healing ankle. As a result, my body looks like a Jello jiggler. Something must be done.

But what? I tried to think of something big and bold, something that would make a statement. Then it came to me. For the first time in my life, I’m going to
participate in a marathon.

It’s a big step, I know and I’m really nervous. Truth be told, I'm not sure I can do it. Still, I think I've found the perfect one for me: iCarly's ‘Great Gobs of Gibby’ marathon on Nickelodeon.

I know what you’re thinking: That’s so lame. Why not The Wizards of Waverly Place instead? Believe me, I thought about that, too, but I've got to start out slow. iCarly’s lack of character development  and story arcs make for an easy, even course. The last thing I want to do is sprain an eyelash my first time out of the box. Plus I never did find out what happened after Sam kissed Freddy in last year’s season finale. I’ve lost way too much sleep over it. It’s time to end the madness.

The training starts now. I’ve got fourteen episodes lined up on my TiVo. Today, I’ll watch one show. Tomorrow, two. Before you know it, I’ll be ready. As for carbo-loading? Don’t you worry. I’m a pro at that. I just bought the Frito-Lay Classic Mix bag featuring not one, but TWO types of Doritos! All I need now is a blueberry cheesecake, a case of Yoo-hoo and I'm good to go.

So wish me luck. I know I'm going to need it. Reliving Carly’s bedroom fire will be tough. But I’ll do it in the name marathon participants everywhere.

Hopefully, I’ll make them proud.

Janene, you little devil! You really suckered me in. but I suppose coach potato marathons are the thing these days. Good luck and watch out for those couch sores. I hear they can be hell.

Tee hee! Actually, I've always dreamed of running in a real marathon but my knees would never allow it. This is as close as I'll ever get. Thanks for the good luck wishes! ;)

Well you fooled me so much, that now that its not running related my mind has gone blank!

Haha! Love the twist. I was sucked in too.

Still, watching-television-marathons can be just as gruelling, especially when you run out of popcorn/snacks ;)

You know, I've never watched them. I do remember when my kids used to watch them on Nick and Disney. Mind numbing!!

Oh man, I was all geared up to give you an inspirational "push" for your marathon training, and then you dropped that little bomb on us. I guess the same advice could still apply:

"Make sure to stretch, drink plenty of water, and most of all, have fun!"

I just stretched on the couch and threw my back out. Medic!

I think that's great that you're going to be running a marathon. Be careful of shin splints.

Will this marathon be on television?

Why...yes...it's on television. ;) Caught you skimming, my dear. Still love you! :)

Hi Janene,
I was almost impressed. I was in high school track, but I haven't run much since then. Unless you count the time a very angry chihuahua was chasing me... it was more like four really quick steps and a kick. ;]
Anyway, I was ready to cheer you on, and feel like a lazy slob. And instead, I feel like a total athlete this afternoon, of course I dont think I'm ready for a marathon, but I could probably start out with a couple of back to back episodes of something. Thank you! :D

What do you mean ALMOST? We're talking iCarly, not some engrossing show like House Hunters International! This will require tremendous training! :)

In all seriousness, how cool that you were in track. I could never run, even when I was young.

Frito-Lay Classic Mix bag will help you a lot... to have fun :)

Those handy little bags are a lot cooler than those goopy gel packs I see my marathoner friends sloshing down. Yetch!

Okay, I bought into this until the very end! Now that I know your real plan, I am in. I may watch a House marathon. Then again he might make me feel guilty for eating carbs. I'll need to think of another marathon, like Law and Order. :)

You know, I've never seen House! What's wrong with me. Too much iCarly I guess. ;) Seriously, I can't wait for the day when I can reclaim the television.
